Are You Ready For School?

For me, this is the last week of freedom for a while. I work two part time jobs, one as a nurse practitioner, and one as a fine arts coordinator/music teacher for a small Christian school. I also teach piano lessons. They each have their challenges, but very different challenges. Would I rather manage people's illnesses or discipline students in a classroom? Would I rather enjoy being a part of maximizing a patient's health and well being, or teaching a child to enjoy, appreciate, and understand the joys of music? They both have things I love, and things I consider challenges, but it's all good.

From the perspective of a teacher, there is so much planning and preparation that takes place. From the perspective of a student, there is so much learning and focus that must take place in order to excel. An ill-prepared teacher is frustrated, as is an ill-prepared student.

This is a fresh new year, without any failures, absences, tardies, fights, hurt feelings, or struggles. It's also without any successes, fun days, new friends, responsible behavior and the great feelings that come along with having a positive attitude and cooperative spirit. Hard work is something in which you can be proud and enjoy the rewards. As you can see, your perspective and what you focus on can be either positive or negative.

I hope and pray you will have a wonderful school year! Here in CT I personally enjoy the cooler evenings, the cozy times at home with cinnamon scented candlelight, the Autumn leaves, pumpkins, apple crisp, and Fall fairs and festivals. It's also nice to get back into a routine.

God bless you!

2 Timothy 2:15: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
